The Australian companies Eku Energy and LP Renewables have presented plans to develop a 400 MW/1,600 MWh BESS in Queensland, Australia (Construction Review Online, 31/10/2025).

The Belah BESS will be located near Chinchilla in the Western Downs region and it will connect to the Orana Substation via an underground high-voltage transmission line.

The facility should be able to provide up to four hours of energy storage to Queensland’s power grid. Construction works are scheduled to start in late 2026.
